It looks like things are looking up in the world of elevator accessibility.
Mitsubishi recently introduced their new Touchless Call elevator.
This new system will allow users to automatically initiate a voice controlled interface allowing people who are blind to select their desired destination by voice and be warned once the elevator arrives at the desired floor.
This system also includes a wheelchair detector that will automatically initiate the Voice controlled system as soon as a wheelchair is detected (within 30cm from the Elevator door)
Mitsubishi plans to offer Touchless Call to hospitals and nursing homes within this year.
