Add On Wheelchair Propulsion For Kids & Teens

Something new in the way of add-on propulsion for pediatric wheelchairs. SuperQuad has released a downsized version of their Wijit wheelchair propulsion system just for the little wheelies.
Their new Voyager was designed especially for kids and helps kids and teens (ages 7 to 14) propel, steer and brake their (manual) wheelchairs with greater ease.
Like big brother Wijit, Voyager is a lever action add-on that is designed to make pushing easier for kids who have difficulty with manual wheelchair propulsion or difficulty grasping conventional type pushrims. Like its big brother, Voyager is a dual lever system which enhances wheelchair propulsion in forward and reverse directions in a more shoulder friendly and ergonomic way.
The system is designed to be mounted on a 20" wheel which is the size used on most pediatric manual wheelchairs. The unit can be placed in neutral and the levers swung out of the way for those times when the user needs to get under tables or for transfers. There is a built in braking system that can be applied from the lever handles. Steering is also controlled through the lever handles.
Adding Voyager to a wheelchair will increase the overall width of the wheelchair by 1.5" per side but this may be a small price to pay for the increased ability to handle a manual wheelchair.
