Research and development of new high tech durable medical equipment will cease because of bizzare restrictions in medicare/medicaid reimbursement policy. Third party payers, i.e. government agencies and insurers, who buy most wheelchairs, make those with mobility impairments more dependent than necessary, usually at great cost to the agency,the wheelchair users and their families by refusing to consider funding life style enhancing products.
