Device Mounting Systems For Wheelchairs

It always amazes me how months can go by without a question about a certain type of assistive technology, and then…
I recently received three requests almost in a row regarding heavy-duty mounting systems for use on wheelchairs. These were for systems that could handle mounting a notebook computer or communications device, or multiple devices to a wheelchair. The third request was the most interesting. The person was looking for a mount system that could also be attached to a floor standing rolling frame that could be used in tandem with a wheelchair or while the wheelchair user was in bed.
I only know of two companies that manufacture this type of equipment so of course I passed the information along:
Daedalis Technologies Inc.: http://www.daessy.com/
and
CJT Enterprises, Inc.: http://www.cjt-yes.com/
Both companies manufacture rather substantial mounting systems hardware to support communication devices, laptop computers or switches for use with assistive technologies. Most of these mounting systems include universal joints so that the device being mounted to the wheelchair can be placed in a position that works for the user. The systems all have quick adjustment mechanisms and pivots for swinging or removing mounting arms and devices out of the way for transfers.
Here’s a video of a Dynavox Vmax mounted with a CJT Super Profiler Mount.
