Grasping- A Simple Solution
Ziggi | Dec 31, 2007 | Comments 3
Sometimes doing the things you want to do is just a matter of getting a grip on them. For many people with diminished hand function grasping or holding is not possible.
This becomes a real lifestyle hit and some of the passion for things like fishing, gardening, painting, cooking, or just tinkering ultimately become dreams or memories.
So when Tyler Thompson of Receive-All gave me a shout to have a look at their new grasping device, I did. What I found was encouraging. The Receive-All is a simple device that can help hold all sorts of items.

The RECEIVE-ALL system consists of an arm brace and an adapter. You simply attach an adapter to the item you wish to hold; fishing rod, garden tool, sporting equipment, hand tool, etc. That item can then be attached to the arm brace that is secured to your arm giving you control of the item.
What do I like about the Receive-All? It’s simple! And simple not only works but it gets used. Complex aids to daily living may also work, but they most often do not get used. Too involved or intricate and often too time consuming to deal with. The other turn on is the availability of inexpensive adapters. Get a bunch and pre-load your items so that they are ready to use when needed.

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you….
My uncle is wheelchair bound and has always been an avid fisherman. He has used this product and highly recommends it!
He also has used another product called a Fishing Pole Holder. We found it here: http://www.enablemart.com/Catalog/Sports/Fishing-Pole-Holder. It can be clamped onto his chair, a lawn chair, basically anything, and is really easy to install/use! He keeps it in his van for that off chance someone wants to go and drop a line in the water!!!
I recently took my disabled father to our favorite fishing grounds on Cape Cod. Stripers are in season and we decided to take weekend with the whole family. The made it so much more enjoyable for dad and I. I helped him with the casts, but he was able to sit in his wheel-chair in comfort and enjoy reeling in the keepers!
