Getting around the outdoors can sometimes be enough to drive a wheelchair user indoors. This is especially true when the places one wants to wheel to are not on the straight and paved path.

Hippocampe is an all-terrain and beach wheelchair with some very cool features. It can traverse sand and is buoyant so it can float in water. An optional ski can be mounted to the front making Hippocampe snow worthy.

The wheelchair can be independently pushed, towed, or pushed from behind by an AB volunteer. Top it off with the unit’s ability to fold up and you have a very neat package that can be transported easily. Regular maintenence is simple- just hose it down.

My two cents-
Why yet another all-terrain wheelchair? An all-terrain wheelchair can make the difference in turning a spectator into a participant. So often we see wheelchair users religated to the sidelines of life. Sitting on the boardwalk watching the bathers. Parked on the paved path while the kids romp over hill and dale. It’s not for lack of desire or ability that this happens. It’s most often for lack of the right technology under their butts. Any wheelchair that helps people be where they want to be and get where they want to go is welcomed here.
