Locals Take Wrench In Hand To Keep Wheelchairs Rolling

How cool is this? Volunteers in Ithaca, NY started a project that fixes damaged wheelchairs and puts them back into circulation.

The group, calling themselves Wonderful Wheelchairs started rolling as a service project sponsored by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Ithaca NY. Their goal was to repair and recycle 70 trashed wheelchairs located at a local extended care facility. Staff at the extended care facility would have to scramble for a wheelchair whenever a new resident arrived, but not any more.

The group completed restoring the 70 wheelchairs at the facility and is now accepting donations of wheelchairs from the community. If you live in the Ithaca, NY area and would like to drop off the clunker that is collecting dust in your garage or closet, you can contact Carol John at Wonderful Wheelchairs: 607-351-1655

I just love this kind of thing! A tip-o-the-hat to Wonderful Wheelchairs.
