Off Road Conversion For Power Wheelchairs

Off road power wheelchairs may be the hottest wheelchairs to come along in some time. They seem to be up high on many wheelchair users want lists. But oh those prices!
It’s tough enough scraping up for one power wheelchair without having to go even deeper in the hole for a recreational one. There is however an alternative. A conversion kit that turns your conventional rear wheel or front wheel drive wheelchair into an off road chair.
The No Boundaries Off-Road Wheelchair Kit is a unique design with a base platform that is powered by the wheels of a power wheelchair and allows the user to access outdoor recreational areas that are typically not accessible in a standard wheelchair. Beaches, parks, and trails become places you can get around in instead of places you dream of going to. The unit was designed by the University of South Florida and licensed exclusively to Rehab Ideas.
There’s no real fuss converting. The user rolls up onto the No Boundaries unit without having to do a transfer of any kind. The drive wheels of the wheelchair then power the No Boundaries system. The unit comes with roll-bars, safety devices, and customization options are available.
This is actually a neat solution to owning 2 powered wheelchairs or the hassle or impossibility of using a dedicated off road wheelchair for indoor and outdoor use. I would not expect to off road very long distances since the added weight of the conversion kit and the transfer of forces to power the kit may be really tough on your batteries.
