Promoting Workplace Diversity

I think that nothing works as well for promoting a cause than honoring and spotlighting those people and organizations that are with it.
I found this one in my own backyard, Poughkeepsie, NY. OK, cut the laughter. I have heard all of the Poughkeepsie jokes, slurs, and wisecracks before. Anyway, kudos to the local folks for promoting workplace diversity.
Companies and nonprofits in Dutchess and Ulster counties employ a diverse spectrum of employees in terms of race, gender, disability, sexual orientation and ethnic culture.
The Richard K. Wager Workplace Inclusiveness Award, sponsored by the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Catharine Street Community Center, honors these organizations for their commitment to equal opportunity.
Now in its 11th year, the goal is to celebrate businesses that reflect diversity and show how a diverse work force benefits both the organization as well as the community.
