Sunrise Medical Quickie GTi

A recent offering from Sunrise Medical, the Quickie GTi is a rigid frame manual wheelchair with open frame titanium tubing.
It kicks off at 18.6 lbs in the 16″ x 16″ seat model stripped down and with spoke wheels. Chunky guys and voluptuous ladies who cannot squeeze into the 16 x 16 can expect a slightly heavier wheelchair. The chair incorporates an open frame design (no lower frame) with a larger 1 1/8″ diameter titanium tubing.
The Quickie GTi comes with the array of usual up-grades including flat free tires, Froglegs suspension, Natural Fit handrims, an array of caster sizes, elastomer rear suspension, rough terrain options, and lots of other goodies that will add weight to the chair and defeat its primary purpose.
For those who have a need for speed: The top speed of this wheelchair is- as fast as you can push it but much faster on smooth downhill runs.
Actually a very nice wheelchair. If you don’t get too close it should blend in nicely with the bevy of rigid frame wheelchairs already out there.

So Quickie is feeling the pressure from Ti… That’s funny! All the upgrades and options that make a Quickie Ti a Quickie GTi have been standard or available on TiLite’s TR/TRC ZR/ZRA for years. It still won’t keep me from dumping this Flex-O-Matic Quickie Ti for a TiLite ZRA this fall.
Yes, pressure is one thing there is plenty of in the wheelchair industry these days. From each other, from the flood of lower cost Asian products, from upcoming changes in Medicare purchasing practices, from rising production costs, from ……………………. Lot’s of pressure these days.
