As a New Yorker, leaders at our Taxi & Limousine Commission like to "boast" that our 239 accessible cabs gives NYC the most accessible taxis of any city in the country. The 239 amount to less than 2% of the entire yellow cab fleet! Boast-worthy? I don't think so. We need more accessible cabs in NYC, and because I've heard stories of accessible taxis speeding away from wheelchair-using New Yorkers trying to hail them, we need a similar NYPD sting, too.
