Do It Yourself Kitchens For Women In Wheelchairs

“Kitchens For Women In Wheelchairs” is a great wheelchair accessibility peek at the past.

While the title may not reflect today’s disability etiquette, the information contained in this PDF was at one time and to an extent still may be extremely useful.

The book was originally authored by Helen McCullough and published by the University of Illinois Agricultural Experiment Station in 1961. I believe at that time she was an Assistant Professor Of Home Economics and about 70 years old. It is a how-to tour de force (for its day) in making a kitchen wheelchair accessible. It contains diagrams, measurements, and lots of very cool images.

Just taking a quick look at the pdf tends to make me think that the concepts presented may still be very applicable today. It doesn’t look like things have changed all that much.

Have a look and enjoy it for its historical or informational value.
