Discontinued Flofit Medical Flexseat
Image of Discontinued Flofit Medical Flexseat
The Flexseat has openings in the cushion at the critical bony areas which minimize pressures and shift that weight to the fleshy perimeters of the buttocks. The highly contoured surface of the Flexseat increases the sitting area so that the total unit pressure is reduced. This anatomical design automatically changes shape in order to custom fit a variety of body types and it provides for controlled movement of the user.

Strengths:Amazing comfort and pressure relief for my hips, tailbone, and all other seat contact areas. It offers excellent lateral support for the thighs. The shaped of the seat is just as important as the get material attached to it.
Weaknesses:A bit heavy but worth the weight.
Comments:This cushion was given to me about 4 months ago by a sponsored ex-Olympic athlete who had it stored in a plastic bag not being used. He had several others as well, but the very second I sat on this cushion I knew it was the one for me.

I have never had a good cushion before and this Flofit cushion made me realize just how important a cushion can be. It also helped me to realize that I did not have to be in pain all the time from sitting in my wheelchair.

In my opinion the seat cushion is the most important part of a wheelchair in terms of comfort and useability, even more important that the fit of your chair to your body.

I am an extremely active user and I spend hours at a time working out in my chair and this cushion makes the miles go by a lot more comfortably than my old cushion did.

The level of comfort and relief I get from this cushion is simply amazing. I am extremely unhappy to hear it is discontinued. :(

Michelle from OH, USA submitted this review on August 10th 2009 at 09:24 AM. Michelle is an end user who has over ten years of experience with the product.
Strengths:The support this product has provided has been tremendous for over ten years. The pressure relief is superior to many cushions that I have tried. Custom sized for the body and wheelchair.
Weaknesses:not much, but sorry that it's not made anymore. Cushion is also weighty, due to the gel.
Comments:I have really benefitted from this Flofit cushion. Gave me excellent tailbone relief and fully supported my thighs and made sitting in my chair more do-able, hence granting me more independence. Great product. Thanks.

Strengths:Never need to pressure relief because I have nothing under my bones.
Weaknesses:None
Comments:I have had 3 of these for 8 years now and they are perfect, where can I get more from? Need new covers.

Wallace from Cave Spring submitted this review on August 29th 2002 at 07:41 AM. Wallace is an end user who has one to six months of experience with the product.
Strengths:during the short period that the cushion held together it seemed to help relieve pressure.
Weaknesses:the fluid pak kept bursting and getting gel everywhere. after the gel pak burst the cushion was basically useless. I think I went thru 5 gel paks in about 3 months.
Comments:the company desperately needs to identify the defect in the gel pak design and make them stronger. I am a very active paraplegic. I manage a body shop and spend alot of time hunting and fishing. I do not participate in wheelchair sports. Had the gel paks held up I feel I would have been satisfied with the cushion, however they kept tearing up before I could do a thorough analysis.
