Strengths:Heavy wall Large Tube Power base Frame (Good Luck ever bending this). Motors are more than Adequate for my 220 lb frame to take on any hill I can get traction on. And power consumption is above average a few times I have out upwards of 20 miles in a single day when I can make my destination faster than the bus wit 2 transfers I go for it.
Weaknesses:None to speak of The 646 is just a much better 626 which I still own and use daily. I have made some mods to it ( 11 mph ). Reworked the Swing arms To accept the 6.5 mph groove motors and using a 200 amp controller (programmable) @ 36v LiFE04 @ 1/3 the weight of gp24 gel. Only Probelm I had with my 626 was the weak axle/wheel combo. loose Key-ways. JB welded both hardened keys in 2 years ago and holding fine since. The 646 improved all the weak points of the 626.... Love it
Comments:By one if you can, hundreds in prime condition can be had for a song. If your a para or quad Join tour foot rests in the middle via a tapped piece o 3/16 steel tapped to fit existing holes and you never have leg rest problems. I added small roller blade wheels to the underside of each corner to facilitate pushing open doors at local stares

Robin from Calgary, AB, Canada submitted this review on July 27th 2009 at 09:17 PM. Robin is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Incredible speed, and battery durability, despite the length of use.
Without a doubt, its certainly worth it!
Weaknesses:The likelihood of shock weakness, and the shortage of the wiring, causes a great deal of caution.

I put a fat bolt into the anti tipper hinge, to keep it just off the ground, MUCH better, much quieter! Still works, just fine, alll the time! (popping wheelies for the laddies, eh?)
Comments:Certainly has gotten my addiction, to say the least, but must be very careful!

We all do learn our lessons, and as valuable as these chairs are, treat them with pride and honor. Just like anything else, or anyone else, the better they are treated, the better they feel.

John from Escondido, Ca, USA submitted this review on January 23rd 2009 at 10:20 AM. John is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Smooth Ride ! 4 wheel suspension. high speed fun, great on busses, tight spaces good, good battery range. Durable long life chair. This is a High End Quality chair.
Weaknesses:compared to some of my other chairs...none.
Comments:This is for the S-646. (I also own a S-646 SE, review that one seperately). I really like this great electric wheelchair. I bought it used with very few hours over a year ago. It handles nicely on the bus, at home, and everywhere I take it.

So far even in HOT Southern California weather, the motors and controller have no problems. However I do not push them hard in excessive heat. They have a thermal fold-back protection feature that slows them down if they get too hot. I must share some of my non-issues, that another poster has problems with.

1)I like the anti tremmor feature in my controller. It keeps me going straight incase of sudden joystick wabbles at high speeds. SAFE for unstable hands. I lowered the armrest to keep my palm from hitting the on/off toggle switch accidently while driving.

2) The footrests are adjustable. I adjusted mine higher so not to hit curbs. They are high quality and comfortable.

3) I enjoy my center of gravity in my comfortable seat. Never had any tipping problems. I am NOT TOO LARGE FOR MY SEAT. You can order a larger seat if needed. I also enjoy my electric recline.

4) weight capacity on this chair is only 250 lb and the the label is attached to the inside of the battery tray. Why? This label identifies the suspension spring thickness for load. You can order several different load packages to suit your weight up to 400 pounds. The label in the battery tray will tell you. Mine is perfect for my 220 pound body. I am not too heavy for my suspension. Plus the FOX-SHOX tension is adjustable. Mine rides like a Mercedes.

5) I own 6 powerchairs. The S-646 is extreemly well built and High Quality. I have never had any wireing or electrical problems. In fact the reason I bought one was for their lomg life trouble free reputation. If one of my chairs breaks down, I must pay out of my own pocket, so I choose VERY carefully.

Hamid from ancouver, BC submitted this review on January 21st 2009 at 06:04 PM. Hamid is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Suspensions on my 646 are great and make the ride that much more pleasent if they are set correctly.
Weaknesses:Well... Let me tell you about them.
1- Qtronix joystick and controller are not reliable. They short out and do what they want to do with no warning. The on/off switch is in a bad place and a simple jolt of you hand can turn it off and leave you stranded in the middle of an intersection while you are trying to figure out why did it turn itself off.
2- Motors are not worth the material they are made of. They over heat quickly and they are weak. When that happens the controller can not compensat, hence no control. I found when that happens I can monuver the chair by shifting my weight on the chair, just like a skate board.
3- Leg supports are not well made. If you do not tilt the chair back, the under carrag of your foot support will catch the fist curb you cross. If you do that at higher speed kiss them good by. The lack of center mount foot support on this model makes this chair less flexable.
4- the railing on the side of the seat frame Where the armrest and back support attaches to it is too short. So when I seat in my chair,it pushes me forward and there goes my center of gravity, hence tipping accidents. I have had too many to remember.
5- weight capacity on this chair is only 250 lb and the the label is attached to the inside of the battery tray. Why? go figure.
6- The wiring are not reliable. I have had two charger catch fire while recharging the batteries overnight.
Comments:I have had mine for three years now. It only worked with no problem for the first year. The last two years feels like one long battle after another.

BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND.

Strengths:Durability, I've had mine for nearly 6 years and it has had very few problems. I had one set of motors changed, and one of those broke immediately and left me stranded.
Weaknesses:Rides like a log wagon.
Comments:This thing is like an old truck, it just keeps running, it beats you to death with the ride.

Strengths:looks good, new seating system is solid. tilt and elevate. The overall is nice. order Heavy Duty setup
Weaknesses:This is the 2nd new chair with all new tilt recline system and the 646 motors still will NOT go up my road. my old 626 will do it all day.
Comments:Need Help how can we fix the motors from over heating or cutting back on power. This is the 2nd new chair I am going to have to ask for my money back. I love the old 626 and it runs rings around after 6 years of use.

Strengths:seams solid and is very quick. I had a 626 and really love it. I have taken it many places that some might not go and it has always done well. Even when we pushed it to the limit and had to reset the circuit breaker it would start right off.
Weaknesses:Major problems with the motors. My old 626 runs rings around.
this 646-SE. It has No torque, every time I try to come up my drive-way and after resting half way up. When I go to start it will not go forward. I have to wait and turn down hill and then after it is moving it will go.
Comments:Help regarding the motors and having no torque. They have replaced the motors once and new batteries and made no difference.
Has anyone found a way to improve the motors.

Strengths:Great ride, great power and the Quickie Smartseat is programmable to suit users needs.
Weaknesses:Anti-Tip whheels are a bit noisy because of they are always in contact with the ground. After two years I figured out how to raise them off the ground and now the ride is smooth and quiet.
Comments:I have haqd zero problems in three years. I would without hesitation recommend this chair to anyone looking for a center-rear drive power chair.

Shawn from North Bend Oregon USA submitted this review on November 8th 2004 at 11:22 PM. Shawn is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:Outstanding speed, responsive yet stable handeling with unmatched ride quality from the adjustable suspension. Very good close quarter manuverability. Well thought out battery compartment makes battery maintanence a breeze. Very tough frame and motor combination. I have repeatedly done things that would break my old chair on the spot. Good range once I got the batteries broke in. Great program ability. Turned up I can out manuver my pit bull. Good tilt mechanism. Feels safe and is very durable so far. I tilt back 30 times a day. Nive low seat hieght gets my knees under most tables.
Weaknesses:Out of the box programming was anemic. The chair was hobbled with the factory settings.
The anti-tippers being in constant contact is a drag. They are noisy and hangup on cords and hoses and drags them around. They also flutter at high speed on rough terrain. I wish it would still drive while tilted back. I miss a few phone calls while I get tilted back up to a movable position.
Comments:It needs more tire and wheel options to make it work better off road. I got mine in Mossy Oak camo and I get a ton of positive comments on it. Turned up mine will wheelie for about 40 feet. It's a blast to drive. I have only got it to roll back the power on me twice and I was working the heck out of it. I'm glad it will protect itself because my last chair would just burn itself up without warning. At one year old I just had to change out the front castors and the antitip wheels. I have smoked off 3 sets of drive tires so far.

Weaknesses:This thing can't go all out full 8.5 mph for more than 5 minutes without slowing down. Then you stop for 10 minutes it goes again for about 2 minutes and slows down.

Glen from Toronto, Canada submitted this review on October 5th 2003 at 01:57 AM. Glen is an end user who has one to six months of experience with the product.
Strengths:Suspension ride, torque and speed, great looks.
Weaknesses:Those anti-tip wheels, clack clack on sidewalks. I look to lift them an inch or so, please give me details what bolt to change.
Comments:Iím new to being in a wheelchair. Started this year Jan 2003 after C1-C2 spinal surgery. I felt shy about being in it at first but now having a great time after being unable to walk much for last few years before surgery. GREAT CHAIR. THANKS.

I do find the motors get hot, any comments would be helpful.

Also I put a SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER on the chair. A bike speedometer SCHWINN. If you want to do this I recommend the wired (NOT WIRELESS) speedometers. Make sure you are able to program the wheel size to suit your chair (14" or 1117mm circumference. Ive gone 700 Kms (about 435 mi) in the first 5 1/2 months.

James from Chattanooga, TN submitted this review on June 7th 2003 at 09:06 PM. James is an end user who has one to six months of experience with the product.
Strengths:Powerful Motors. Shocks, front and rear.
Weaknesses:Anti tip wheels are designed to constantly keep contact with the ground. There is an easy fix for this though.
Comments:I've had the Quickie 646SE for almost 2 months. Incredable piece of equipment. Very fast when needed. Excelent tork when climbing steep hills. Tight turning radus, even more so than my manual chair. Very stable and easy to control. The ONLY thing I can find that could be better designed is the rear anti-tip wheels are designed to constantly keep contact with the ground. This will drive you nuts when trying to back up onto a curb, use through gravel or any ruff surface. After only a week one of the rear solid anti-tip wheels developed a flat spot which simulated the sound of a flat tire whenever I used the chair making the situation even more frustrating. I have came up with an easy fix that lets me adjust them up to 3 inches off the ground. I adjusted to 1 inch which I found ample for my needs and everything works much better. I've tested the chair with the reclining seat all the way back and it's still very stable. Front wheels do not begin to lift from the ground even with the balanace changed. Overall this is an excelent machine all the way around. I would recomend anyone try it out who is looking for a power chair. I don't think you will look any further.

Strengths:Absolutely amazing chair. Fronts suspension casters a real plus.
Weaknesses:The boogey wheels on the back with constant contact will drive you nuts on sidewalks with the constant clack clack. I added longer bolts and raised mine so they are 3/4 of an inch above the surface when I am in it. It has not sacrificed balance or handling or tipping one bit.
Comments:I had the 626 which was also absoslutely trouble-free, ONCE they got decent rims so that the high torquie motors quit chewing the keyways in the rims apart.
