Strengths:The only good aspect of this chair is the extraordinary height that the elevating function goes to.(when it is working)Which is the reason we bought it for our son. It is a wonderful idea but the chair is very much a prototype.
Weaknesses:EXTREMELY rough ride, as the chair needs to be so stable to make the chair safe at the full elevation. Outside travel on normal city sidewalk conditions is exhausting due to the smashing and rattling.
No suspension whatsoever. Even with the seat raised up a little as the manufacturer suggests. Poor design. Heavy, awkward liftaway footrests, that are difficult to get in and out.(not swingaway) Front castors rub on batteries. Batteries hang exposed and are difficult and dangerous to remove. Low seat back uncomfortable. Chair skids on slightest incline. Armrests are thin tubes with a little pad stuck on. Motors are noisy. And so on .
Comments:Don't buy this chair unless you are intending to only use it inside . Very disappointing as we were so excited about the 22" elevating seat. That is still a wonderful experience for our son and will come in handy as his back up chair, but he has had to purchase another chair for daily use.

Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Comments:I have muscular dystrophy and cannot raise my arms. With this chair, I can raise my whole body. I just raise my chair so I am in front of whatever it is I'm trying to reach. It is wonderful to be able to adjust my chair for the perfect fit no matter what. It is also great to be able to do everything for myself whenever I want. Simple things like being able to access the top shelf of the refrigerator, the top shelves of my bookcases or the grocery store, and so on. The list could go on forever. I can't imagine having to go back to using a non elevating chair. It is such a simple idea why did it take so long. Thank goodness David and his wife, who had a need for such a product, were able to design and build it and then share it with the rest of us.

Cheryl from Ojai, CA, USA submitted this review on October 4th 2007 at 01:30 AM. Cheryl is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:First of all the elevating function has given me complete and total independence. I top out at a head height if 6 feet 2 inches in this chair and can get to absolutely everything without needing help from other people. I can also get low enough to reach things on the floor or to sit at a desk or table comfortably. The chair is very stable and easy to control, even when driving it elevated, and the base is much narrower than alot of power chairs, so i can get through narrow doorways and into tight corners with no problems. The chair has lots of power and good battery life. The seating is very comfortable, and this is the only chair ive had where i can sit in it all day and not hurt after a couple of hours.
Weaknesses:None.
Comments:Ive had this chair for 6 years now, and i also got their manual version as well and use both. They have both performed perfectly all this time with no trouble.
