Strengths:good size for small doorways
I have an elevating seat which is invalauble for kitchen work
Weaknesses:electrical system can fail
Comments:This is the second AMIGO Excite powerchair I have owned. The first one lasted 4 years, left me stranded at a convention in Ohio. This one is about 3 1/2 years old and had the same electrical failure as the first one. It occurred this morning, leaving me stranded at the kitchen sink, alone in the house, which is very dangerous when one cannot walk.

Ann from West Reading, PA, U.S.A. submitted this review on July 1st 2004 at 04:17 PM. Ann is an end user who has over a year of experience with the product.
Strengths:I have used my AMIGO Excite for over three and a half years and
found it really comfortable and maneuverable. It is the only power chair we could find that would fit through our narrow bathroom doorway. I have the electric lift option so I can work at the kitchen sink and stove.
Weaknesses:Two weeks ago while on a trip to Ohio the joy stick box froze in the ON position, and was quite a problem. The strip of lights was on but nothing worked. After about an hour and a half of calling around and making alternate arrangements, I was about to disconnect the cable when I heard a click and the lights went out. On impulse I pushed the start button and expected nothing to happen, but it went on and the powerchair worked as usual. Today, almost two weeks later, the same thing happened, and this morning if my husband had not been at home to get the manual wheelchair for me, I would have been trapped at my computer. I could not have reached the phone and would have had to send an emergency e-mail message to someone to rescue me. After four and a half frustrating hours of using a small crowbar to move the powerchair away from the computer, and trying to reach by phone the man who sold me the powerchair, I was working at the computer, heard a click, and the lights on the joystick box went out. Once again I pressed the start button and everything worked as usual. My dealer is coming this evening to see what can be done to keep this from happening again. Outside of this problem, the chair has worked well and although I wish it were versatile enough to use on grass, I would not find fault with it.
Comments:If I had not had the frustrating power problem I would have rated this chair as excellent because it did everything I expected it to do.
